Those hospital-things do have some use after all!
I went to one in February (ruptured artery) and I have a scar too! It seems to be a habit of hospitals to leave people with permanent marks, like a psychotic tattoo parlour...
Get well soon!

Thanks for all the good thoughts, everyone. I'm feeling pretty good. The only real pain is that if I walk or stand for any length of time (say, more than 2 minutes) my side hurts. It will be awhile before those muscles put themselves back together, I guess.
Got the staples (ten of them) removed yesterday. Plan on going back to work (very light duty only-I'm not allowed to lift anything) next Monday. By then walking and standing shouldn't hurt so much.
GF has been great. She stayed for 12 hours everyday at the hospital. She lives with me and pushed back the start of her summer job so she could take care of me this week. I know this was stressful for her and I'm so grateful to have her.
My mom flew in and was here for several days last week. What a Mother's Day for her, yeesh. Lots of flowers and well-wishes from friends and family. I feel very lucky. Work has also been very understanding.
Anyway, glad to see the board is doing well. I feel lost, so I know it's been busy.

Yeay, Bran is better!
I had staples about a year and a half ago. Must say I prefer stitches myself, especially the getting them removed part.

You are very lucky Bran.
Can Bran or anyone tell me how you make links on the boards without typing in the actual links? The only way I know how to do it is to paste in the url, but I see Bran has a whole bunch of links in her signature that are just the titles, not the URLs.

Glad to hear you're ok Bran!
When my cousin had her's removed, she got tired of people looking at her funny when she walked so she had a t-shirt made up that said, "You'd walk like this too if you had your appendix removed".

Well, now you can impress people in bars. Tell them it's from a knife fight. That's what I do with my scar (across the back of my head).

Thanks again, everyone. And glad you figured out how do add a title to your link, Gem.
I didn't find the staples painful to remove at all. He just popped them out.
I've never had stitches (except for the dissolving kind when my wisdom teeth were removed), so I can't compare.
Of course, I just tell myself none of this pain compares to before the appendix was removed.

*hugs Bran* Sorry I'm so late, you can blame it on me cause I was gone, you wouldn't have gotten sick if I was here. *grins*
